Immersion cooling systems often use dielectric fluids such as fluorinated liquids (e.g., 3M Novec and FC-72) or synthetic hydrocarbon-based insulating fluids. These fluids typically have relatively high viscosity and low thermal conductivity.The wide-channel design significantly reduces flow resistance, avoiding pumping difficulties and insufficient local flow caused by high-viscosity fluids.

The pillow plate structure enhances flow turbulence, compensating for the heat transfer efficiency loss caused by low thermal conductivity.

The wide-channel design offers excellent resistance to clogging and contamination, providing better tolerance to fouling compared with conventional brazed plate heat exchangers.

The pillow plate structure is fully welded and integrally formed, with no rubber gaskets or adhesives, eliminating the risk of leakage. This is particularly critical for expensive and flammable cooling fluids.With a pressure rating of 20–30 bar, the heat exchanger meets safety requirements for high-pressure testing, nitrogen blanketing, and pressure retention.

In regions with suitable climates, immersion cooling systems can be connected to cooling towers or dry coolers through plate heat exchangers to achieve free cooling.

The pillow plate heat exchanger has a compact size and lightweight design, making it suitable for integration into immersion cooling distribution units (CDUs).
